We started Thanksgiving with our new tradition of a morning 5K. This was our second year, and was much nicer than last year's race in 9 degree weather. It was nice enough to push the kids in strollers, which really made it a family affair. Atticus and Violet pointed out scenery as we passed and Felix fell asleep. It was fun for everyone.
We had a vegetarian feast for Thanksgiving Dinner: tofu and bread stuffed butternut squash, carrots in herbs & olive oil, cranberry-apple relish, green beans with mushrooms, salad with pears and pomegranates, sweet potato puree with maple syrup glaze, and locally produced apple cider. And low-fat, low-sugar tollhouse pie and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. And, believe it or not, it was all crowd-pleasing.

Bright and early the day after Thanksgiving we started getting ready for Christmas. We began be picking out our tree with family at a local tree farm. We did lots of decorating and bundled up and put up lights on Saturday. We're excited for this fun season!

And, here are some photos of Violet up to two year-old antics. First, as we discovered her applying Desitin to her clothing. Second, in an awesome cheerful mood after she spent naptime climbing out of crib instead of sleeping. And finally, her bedroom--after we removed the crib side to give her a "big girl bed" and prevent dangerous climbing out. Apparently naptime and bedtime are for taking clothes out of drawers and books off of shelves, but definitely not sleeping.
