Happy Birthday Dear Violet

She's two, folks! My baby girl is two.

We celebrated with presents--that Atticus was glad to help open,

and with a party at the park.
It was Old Macdonald themed. I made a barn cake and animal cupcakes. They were a big hit.

Violet is a delightful, spunky, and still easy-going two year-old.
Violet is very independent. She likes to do things all by herself and can (sometimes for amazingly long periods) entertain herself. She is frighteningly brave and follows her big brother's lead in climbing, running, playing, and doing big kid things. She likes to pick up the hens and tote them around the yard--when she can catch them. Violet is becoming more verbal, and though we still have difficultly understanding all of them, is using long and complex sentences. She's learned her own version of the ABCs and a few other songs and sings to herself frequently. Often her songs seem to be a hybrid of many of her faves. She has such a delightful giggle and is fun to tickle. She loves doggy rides on Daddy and adores both her older and younger brother. She gets many compliments on her still striking red hair. She's obsessed with baby dolls right now. She's also getting more and more interested in books and reading. She doesn't always sit still for very long for reading or games (this girl is a goer!), but actually has a pretty long attention span for do crafts and stickers. Violet loves to get into stuff and reorganize it. She has a particular system of sorting things out that doesn't always agree with mine. She is a very social, friendly girl. She has pretty relaxed temperament and though she can throw a big tantrum, they aren't too frequent and don't last too long. Violet is too busy to spend valuable cupboard-emptying time fussing. We're grateful to have this loving two year-old in our family.
